The Children Work Group Early Childhood Conference featured Dr. Jeanette Herbers of Villanova University on her findings from a survey of national shelter providers, discussing their training needs for working with young children in families experiencing homelessness.
Dr. Herbers, a HopePHL Visiting Scholar, showed hard evidence that emergency housing can be a positive factor for parents and young children, especially when there is an emphasis on child development. She is partnering with the Philadelphia Office of Homeless Services to offer training to family emergency shelter staff of how to maximize support for your young children.
